The Acquaviva Cathedral was once referred to as a Palatine church because it belongs to a king. King Giovanni Antonio Donato Acquaviva. King Acquaviva oversaw the activities of the cathedral himself to prevent the archbishops from snagging power. Little wonder it is tucked between the Episcopal Palace and the Palazzo De Mari.
