The cathedral features mainly Renaissance and Baroque architectural styles. The interior of the Acerno cathedral has a Latin cross ground plan called a Commissa. The interior has a main nave, two smaller naves and two aisles on the sides, an apse, a sacristy and a transept. The pillars which support the structure are covered in stucco. The altars in the building are four in number. One of the altars was dedicated to the Saint Donatus, the second altar was built in honor of St. Michael the Archangel, the third dedicated to Apollonia. The last set of the altar is located in the left aisle and it was built in honor of Mary Immaculate. Due to the renovations carried out in the church, a majority of the artworks, reliefs, and paintings have been hidden. However, the interior still features some frescoes created by an 18th-century painter, Leonardo Pallante. Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
