There is no particular information about the origins of the Castle of Pentefur, but surely it was built either during the Roman period or the Byzantine era. It is said to belong to the founders of the town of Savoca and estimated to have been built around the 6th century and 17th century. Visiting the ruins left of the castle is one of the best ways to experience the town. The castle has been occupied by many lords of Savoca, more than 30 of them.
