From a distance, it looks like the Coliseum in Rome. McCaig’s Tower is an important tourist’s destination for anyone to see in Oban. It was built by John Stuart McCaig who was an admirer of Roman and Greek architecture. He started the project as a way of constructing a monument that will make his family name last and also provide a job for local masons during the winter period. If you’re fit, it will make a lot of sense to walk up to the Tower and experience it at close range.
