Lesbos also known as Lesvos is an island located in the North Aegean region, it makes up one out of the 5 governing islands in the region. The medieval regional unit was discovered by a family, the Penthilidae. These are some facts about the island. The patron god of the island is Lesbos, according to classical Greek mythology. The first king of the Island was Macar, whose sister; Canance was murdered for him to ascend the throne. The larger towns in Lesbos were named after Macar’s daughters.
