Ios celebrates 5 festivals, and if you’re visiting during these periods then, you’re in luck. In Mid-August, they celebrate what is known as The feast day of the Virgin Mary. This involves so many activities, including music, dance, feasting, and a procession of the icon of the Virgin Mary in Chora. There is also the feast of Agios Ioannis (Saint John), which involves wines, dance, and eating of the traditional bean soup. Homeria Festival is celebrated in honor of the Greek epic hero and poet, Homer. The event is synonymous with wild parties and celebrations and can be a lot of fun.
