Belluno used to be a city in the Venetian nation and a major location. It has commercial value serving as an important hub for the transport of lumber from the Cadore, passing through the Piave River. However, after the fall of Venice in 1797, it was possessed by the Austrians. When the Kingdom of Italy was formed, it was annexed into the kingdom in 1866.
