The stones surrounding the Verona Arena have seen a lot of shows ever since it was built over 2000 years ago. This huge amphitheatre was an entertainment hub during its heyday. Within the walls of the Arena, gladiator games have been held, and blood was spilt. Medieval jousts, Puccini operas and a concert by One Direction. The first medieval joust was in 1590, and it was mainly an equestrian tournament. In 1751, a rhino was brought to the Arena to the astonishment of the audience.
