Since the establishment of York Minster in 627, there has been 96 archbishops and bishops of York. One of the most prominent bishops is Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, who became Lord Chancellor to King Henry VIII. Wosley was cardinal for 16 years but never once stepped into the Minster.
