The history of this magnificent edifice dates back to the 4th century, and ever since then, it has played a major role in the religious and political life of the people. Here are 10 interesting facts about this metropolitan church of St. Peter, located in the city of York, England. The first building for the church was made out of a wooden structure. This was in the year 627, and the reason for the quick construction is to provide a place for Edwin, king of Northumbria, to be baptized.
