As the Germans bombarded England, it was important to keep the royal family in a safe place. Many people believed the queen and her family were sleeping at Buckingham. However, they are located at the Windsor Castle. Despite most of the rooms being reinforced, the girls, including the future Queen Elizabeth II, sometimes slept in the dungeon.
