The medieval church located in Siena, Italy is devoted to the Assumption of Mary. The Siena Cathedral formally the pontifical seat of the Diocese of Siena is currently the Archdiocese of Siena- Colle di Val d’Elsa-Montalcino. Currently, it is regarded as one of the best Gothic cathedrals in Italy. The construction of the present-day cathedral began in 1229 and its dome was completed in the year 1264. Gothic master Nicola Pisano built the Siena’s Duomo, while the plans for the lower half of the façade were drawn by his son, Giovanni in 1285.
