The Plaza Mayor wasn’t just constructed and named Plaza Mayor. This symbolic square changed with the social context of Spain and times. First called Plaza del Arrabal, this public square was changed to Plaza de la Constitución in the year 1812. It was later renamed Plaza de la República in 1873 and eventually to Plaza Mayor after the end of the Spanish Civil War.
