Many people visit the cathedral for Bolsena miracle. However, there is another little known reason why people go there for pilgrimage, which is the martyred mayor, St. Pietro Parenzo, whose tomb is in the cathedral. After Parenzo was murdered in 1199, people begin to troop into the cathedral after reports of people praying at the tomb are getting their prayers answered.
