Big Ben is a tower officially known as the Elizabeth Tower. The historical edifice is linked to the Palace of Westminster and has been a source of pride, identification, and unity for the British people. Here are the top 10 interesting facts about this Big Ben.  Officially referred to as the “Great Bell,” the edifice got its nickname from the first Commissioner of Public Works, Sir Benjamin Hall in 1855. He supervised the later stages of the reconstruction of the Houses of Parliament. On the 10th of April, 1858 the Great Bell was cast, and Sir Benjamin Hall’s name was inscribed on it.
