King Robert of Anjou commissioned the cathedral’s south portal built in the 14th-century. The inscription on the Anjou Portal reads- I am the emperor’s chapel. No one shall wage war against me. Robert, shielded by the king of heaven, protects me. Heaven’s portal am I and guide to the devout following the sacred teachings of my masters.
