In the 1200s a royal zoo was created at the Tower of London. It has been preserved and maintained for 600 years. It was packed with exotic wildlife such as elephants, kangaroos, lions, ostriches, and polar bears. These animals were later moved to the new London Zoo in Regent’s Park.
