At the height of its glory, Monteriggioni became a significant town in the whole area. It was successful in many ways and to ensure continuity of progress; the city was entrusted into the hands of Giovannino Zeti. Like every successful place, the town had many enemies. At a particular occasion, while the soldiers were defending the city against the Medici army, promising to fight until their death, until Giovannino Zeti gave out the keys to the enemy.
