Hampton Court Palace, located near the River Thames, is one of the surviving palaces built by King Henry VIII. Over the century it has served many purposes including home to royals, a place of gathering, and more recently, a site of attraction for tourist. Before going to visit the palace, here are some interesting facts to excite you. The building of the palace started in 1515 in what looks like an attempt to build the grandest palace in the whole of England. It was handed over to Cardinal Thomas Wolsey, who was King Henry VIII favorite. However, when Thomas fell out of favor with the king, he handed it over in 1529 to avoid disgrace.
