It is almost impossible to tell the history of Venice without mentioning the Rialto Bridge. Originally built in 1181, for easy access to the Rialto Market on the eastern side. The bridge is the oldest of the four bridges that cross the Grand Canal, Italy. Here are fun facts about the bridge. The first construction of the bridge was a pontoon bridge built by Nicolo Barattieri.
